The use of fibre optic cabling in day to day life has become more and more popular.  Fibre optic cabling can be used to link multiple buildings on one site or to link data cabinets through large scale buildings where copper cable runs exceed 90 meters in length.

There are many different types of fibre optic cables that can be used within the industry each type can be applied for different applications, speeds and environments.  The types of multimode fibre optic cables are OM1, OM2, OM3, OM4 and OM5.  There are only two types of single-mode fibre which are known as OS1 and OS2.
